FILLERS
Fillers don’t cost, they pay!
|
They pay by giving you greater control of your epoxies
properties and increasing the volume of your epoxy at a
generally cheaper cost.
Wood Flour ... Very clean and fine wood powders
manufactured specifically for industrial use. Good as
a strong non sagging epoxy thickener for wood toned
glues and fillets and can be mixed with fumed silica
for a smoother paste.
We have two wood flours, pine and maple with one pound yielding
over two quarts in volume.
Note: Measured by weight, filler volumes are only approximate. These flours are so economical we recommend you to stock both flours so
you can customize your the color to match your wood and to customize your
paste consistency.
Pine makes a smooth
paste and when
mixed with epoxy is a peanut butter color.
Maple is an ultra fine powder is so
smooth that it needs no
Carbosil to spread
smoothly even when
heavily loaded in the
epoxy and its small
particle size allows
loading of 2 parts flour
to one part epoxy by
volume. It makes a dark chocolate color.
Fumed silica known as Carbosil or aerosil is the most commonly used
filler and makes a very
smooth strong non
sagging putty and is
often added to other
fillers to improve their
properties.
Fumed silica can be added to make a smoother paste.
Microscopic glass bubbles. An off white light fairing filler that sands easily. It has moderate strength and good
Phenolic hollow reddish brown spheres that make excellent light weight putties with superior feather edge sanding qualities. They sand easier, smoother and have better sag resistant properties than the white bubbles. Phenolic is the best quality filler for an easy sanding fairing putty.
Graphite powder. Black fine powder, used
to create slick abrasion
resistant putties and as a black coloring agent.
Milled fiber. A dense very high strength powdered
fiberglass filler.. For high tensile
strength putties and gap filling. Makes a very high strength rough mixture
for extra strong bonds.

Graphite Powder
This powder turns the epoxy black and can be used as a colorant, but most important it adds lubricity to the epoxy coating and is often used as an anti friction coating for dagger boards and the bottom of small boats etc. and you only need to add about 1 tablespoon to 4 mixed oz. of epoxy. It really works!
